Data Protection Officer

The successful participation in the ” Personal Data Protection Officer” certification exam demonstrates the basic knowledge that a person must have in order to effectively fulfil the duties of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) of an organisation, in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Particularly, the DPO shall undertake, among other things, (a) to inform and advise the controller or the processor, as well as the staff employed by them, of their obligations under data protection legislation, (b) to monitor the compliance of the organisation with all data protection legislation, also during audits, awareness-raising activities and training of staff involved in processing operations, (c) to act as a contact point for requests from persons concerning the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights, and (d) to cooperate with and act as a contact point for the Personal Data Protection Authority on issues relating to processing.

 

Requirements for taking the certification test:

 

  • Academic degree,

 or

  • Graduate of compulsory education, as applicable in his/her country of origin or residence with at least 6 months of professional experience relevant to the subject.

 

* In this sub-scheme, is given the possibility to the candidate to be evaluated either in Greek or in English. In case the candidate chooses to be examined in the English language, it is recommended that his/her level of knowledge in English is at least B1 (moderate knowledge).
