The holder of the certification «Internet of Things (IoT) applications in Local and Public Administration», is defined as the person who possesses the knowledge and skills to understand the application of technological tools and methods aiming at enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation in the operation of Local and Public Administration, with an emphasis on Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Successful completion of the certification examination for this subject, demonstrates the individual’s ability to understand the fundamental principles of the Internet and of the Internet of Things (IoT) and their role in improving public organizations, as well as to recognize IoT applications in infrastructure monitoring, environmental data management, and the creation of “Smart Cities.” It also demonstrates, that the individual is capable of comprehending IoT-based solutions, contributing this way to the digitization and improvement of public service operations.

Indicative job duties include the following:

  • Support in the collection and analysis of data from IoT devices used in public services.
  • Record key technical characteristics of IoT systems and support the process of selecting appropriate solutions.
  • Participation in awareness or training activities for colleagues, regarding the potentialities and benefits of IoT in Public Administration.

Requirements for taking the certification test:

Be 18 years old or older and have/be:

  • Academic Degree

or

  • Graduate of an optional secondary school, as applicable in his/her country of origin or residence and completion of a training programme of at least 30 hours in a relevant subject

or

  • Graduate of an optional secondary education with an educational orientation in a relevant subject

or

  • Graduate of compulsory education, as applicable in his/her country of origin or residence and completion of a training programme of at least 60 hours in a relevant subject
