The successful participation in the certification examination of the subject “Woodworking techniques in the art of wooden boat building” proves the theoretical knowledge of the person involved in the art of wooden boat building. He/she knows the parts of a wooden boat, the types of boats, as well as the basic techniques of design, construction and repair. He/she is also familiar with the work carried out in shipyards (“tarpaulins/karnacks”) and is able to distinguish the types of shipbuilding timber and to which parts of the vessel they are applied.

This subject also includes the modelling of traditional wooden boats and the construction of miniature boats.

 

Requirements for taking the certification test:

  • Graduate of at least compulsory education (primary school until 1980 or from a third grade Gymnasium from 1981)
